The Role of Women in Mengibar: First-Person Voices

Dos trabajadoras de Mengibar en el Día Internacional de la Mujer 8M 2025, destacando su papel en la industria con orgullo y determinación.

In Mengibar, women play a fundamental role in various areas of the company. To gain firsthand insight into their experiences, we spoke with two professionals who shared their testimonies, challenges, and advice for future generations. Ivet is a Engineering Manager, and Ana is a Mechanical Technician.

Overcoming barriers and paving the way

For Ivet, her professional journey has been defined by the clarity of her goals: “Hard work, dedication, and motivation. You have to be willing to fight for your goals, to persist, and to prove your worth.” Her experience highlights the importance of strategy, continuous learning, and visibility in the workplace. Although she acknowledges that she has sometimes had to work twice as hard to be recognized, she firmly believes that “results speak for themselves, and when you do your job well, respect follows.

Ana, on the other hand, discovered her passion for mechanics at a young age by taking things apart and putting them back together, eventually deciding to turn her passion into a profession through vocational training. Her path has been different from Ivet’s, as she has not encountered gender-related barriers in her career: “People are always surprised to see a woman in mechanics, but after two days, they get over it. I’ve always been treated as just another team member.

Opportunities are there… and you have to seize them

Both professionals agree that talent has no gender and that opportunities exist for those who choose to pursue them. “If you can’t find your opportunity, create it. The key is not to limit yourself to what is ‘expected’ of us but to go after what we truly want,” Ivet emphasizes.

For Ana, the key lies in education and attitude: “If you like this field and train for it, you have the same opportunities as anyone else. You just need to know how to navigate the industry and never stop learning.

The Value of working at Mengibar

The work environment plays a crucial role in professional experiences. Ana highlights that “This is the first place where I feel truly comfortable in every aspect,” while Ivet finds motivation in the opportunity to contribute, improve, and take on new challenges. “It’s not always easy, but the effort is worth it,” she affirms.

Ivet also emphasizes her focus on the day-to-day: “With dedication, a commitment to doing things well, and, most importantly, the desire to contribute. I’m motivated by facing challenges, improving my surroundings, and seeing how small improvements make a difference.

Inspiration for future generations

Both professionals agree that the message for future women in the workforce should be clear and powerful. Ivet sums it up: “Don’t wait for someone to open the door for you; push, persist, and prove what you’re capable of.” Ana, for her part, encourages young women to follow their passions fearlessly: “Do what makes you happy and strive to be the best at it.

A commitment to equality

March 8, International Women’s Day, is a time to reflect on the progress made toward gender equality and also to recognize the challenges that still exist. In Mengibar, diversity and inclusion are essential steps toward a fairer and more equitable workplace.

Today, we celebrate the effort, dedication, and talent of all the women who are part of our company and society as a whole.

Happy International Women’s Day!
